Beach Spectacular kicks off holiday weekend

LOGAN COUNTY – They don’t call it the “Beach Spectacular” for nothing. It had all the elements and ingredients needed to have a spectacular day at the beach and Indian Lake.

To start with, it was the first day of a long holiday weekend. The fourth fell on a Tuesday this year, so most people had taken Monday off from work to have a long four-day weekend, and thus were pretty darn happy already. Throw in one large ” Beach Spectacular Event at Indian Lake and if that’s not a recipe for fun then I don’t know what is.

And fun this past Saturday they had. The beach was packed with swimmers and sun bathers. The beach sidewalk was lined with vendors, food trucks and carnival type game booths. It was wall-to-wall people having fun and soaking up some sun.

On the far south side of the beach lay a bevy of beautiful vintage and classic cars at the Cruise-in and Car Show. On the north side of the beach the Miss Indian Lake Pageant was underway. It was a beautiful day at the beach from one shore to the other.

Party boats and pontooners lined the beach’s “Boat Swim Area” and if you didn’t look twice you’d swear you were at Daytona Beach.

The fun didn’t stop there though. Anywhere you went Saturday at Indian Lake it had that festive “Beach Spectacular” atmosphere. Restaurants were overflowing, the campground was full, the flea markets where packed and people and boats were out and about everywhere.

The popular “Froggys at the Lake” was hopping with a live band playing and the swim-up bar was practically overflowing. Just down the road at the Tilton Hilton it was the same story – packed full of people having a good time. And over at Acheson’s Resort the Country Band “Hidden Assets” was bringing down the house as one boat after another was parading into the boat channel to see what was happening.

If all that was still was not enough to have a good time then the main event of the day made sure to satisfy even the largest appetite for fun by capping off the festivities with a spectacular fireworks display on the beach.

They don’t call this event the “Beach Spectacular” for nothing and they really achieved that goal this past red. white and blue weekend!
