MECHANICSBURG – Mechanicsburg Exempted Village Schools’ board on Monday approved several contracts for administrators and new salaries for the next school year.

The board approved salary increases for the next school year for Superintendent Danielle Prohaska, Director of Operations/Athletics Coby Wilhelm, High School Principal Paul Hershberger Jr., Middle School Principal Marlo Schipfer, Elementary Principal Christy Garver, Special Education Supervisor Ce Greene, Director of Data and Assessment Mary J. Huffman, Director of Technology Eric Griffith, and Transportation Supervisor Matt Mayberry.

Prohaska’s salary increases from $93,178 to $97,203; Wilhelm’s salary increases from $65,000 to $67,29; Hershberger’s salary increases from $77,649 to $79,311; Schipfer’s salary increases from $77,649 to $79,311; Huffman’s salary increases from $81,500 to 83,317; Greene’s salary increases from $61,142 to $74,771; Garver’s salary increases from 73,260 to 76,106; Griffith’s salary increases from $70,844 to $73,826; and Mayberry’s salary increases from $35,500 to $36,362. All increases were due to advancement on the salary schedule.

The board approved a one-year contract for Greene and three-year contracts for Schipfer and Garver.

The board also approved a job description change for the director of operations position, Prohaska said. The change puts athletics, maintenance and custodial operations under one position. Prohaska said the athletic director handles a lot of it as a result of scheduling games and the change formalizes the job duties.

The updated job description did not include a change to Wilhelm’s salary, other than administrative salary advancement approved earlier in the meeting.

New facilities plans

The district’s building committee is looking into new or improved school facilities on district property, Prohaska said. That includes creating a building that would house lockers, restrooms, concessions and a ticket area at the stadium; and renovating existing structures such as the booster building and the wrestling room. The renovations would improve shower facilities.

The district would also like to add a “multipurpose” space somewhere on its property, as there is a lot of interest to use district facilities after school hours, Prohaska said.

There are no cost estimates yet for any of this potential work.
