Then – Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Shyrigh, parents of William Clifford Shyrigh, aka Billy Clifford, are in front of their residence at 114 E. Water St., Urbana, in this circa 1900 photo. Lettering on front screen door is LWSHYRIGH. “Undoubtedly the one Urbanian who has won more than any other in the Thespian world is Billy ‘Single’ Clifford………born in Urbana, January 24, 1869. William Clifford Shyrigh, so called by his parents, Levi and Sarah Shyrigh…..” History of Champaign County Ohio by Judge Evan P. Middleton Volume I, 1917, page 588. Now – This 2015 photo of 114 E. Water St. appears to be essentially the same house without the original porch.
