PAWS Animal Shelter (cat)

My name is Patsy and I am a quiet girl looking for a forever home. I like my fellow cats and I am just the sweetest kitty you’ll ever meet. I have big, gorgeous, curious eyes and a lovable personality! I would love to find my new home with lots of places to explore and a warm lap to sit in at the end of the day. Wouldn’t you like to bring me home to make your home complete? Patsy is up to date on her shots and spayed. She has been wormed and she tested negative for feline leukemia. She is litter box trained. If you are interested in adopting Patsy, please come to meet her. You will fall in love with this cute girl.

Stop by PAWS Animal Shelter, 1535 W. U.S. Highway 36, Urbana, Ohio 43078 or call PAWS at 937-653-6233. The Shelter hours are Tuesday-Friday 12-5 p.m., Saturday 12-4 p.m., Sunday and Monday-closed. You can email us at [email protected]. Visit us at www.facebook.com/paws.urbana. There are many wonderful cats, adorable kittens and fun-loving dogs at the shelter waiting for good homes. Paws Animal Shelter needs donations of Purina Kitten Chow, Purina Complete Cat Chow, Purina Dog Chow and Purina Puppy Chow. We also could use donations of bleach, laundry detergent and clumping cat litter. We are a nonprofit organization that operates only by donations. We do not receive any city, county or state funding. We depend on public donations and our adoption fees to run the shelter. Please consider making a donation to help fund our shelter, and … we are always looking for volunteers.

PAWS Animal Shelter (dog)

Are you looking for a loyal companion? One you can always trust and will love you unconditionally no matter what? Someone to take on a long country cruise, a hike in the woods, a morning jog, and when all is said and done someone who will cuddle on the couch with you and each and every night and let you pick the TV channel? If that’s you, I’d like to introduce you to Selina. She’s a three year old spayed female, great with kids, some dogs, not so good with cats, and she’s absolutely precious. Come meet Selina at Paws Urbana.

She would love to meet you.

Champaign County Animal Welfare League

Puppies everywhere! Champaign County Animal Welfare League (CCAWL) recently rescued a mother dog and her nine puppies. There are six girls and three boys. The mother is a Rat Terrier mix and the puppies appear to be Terrier/Chihuahua mixes.

The puppies have been micro-chipped, spayed and neutered and are up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations and wormings. Like all puppies, these little ones are playful and full of puppy joy and looking for their forever homes. These puppies are eager to learn house-training and proper manners. You are welcome to come visit these little guys or any of our residents at CCAWL.

We are located at 3858 state Route 56, Mechanicsburg, or you may call us at 937-834-5236. All CCAWL adult pets are up to date on all vaccinations including heart worm testing, heart worm preventative and flea and tick treatment. We require an approved application and our adoption fee is $150, cash or check. Puppies have remarkably short attention spans and little retentive ability. Both develop with age.

When your new puppy “arrives,” plan for success. Take him to his toileting location after eating and awakening and watch for the signs at other times that he needs to “go.” If you ignore him, he’ll start to have accidents. All he’s ever known is that Mom takes care of it and you need to help him learn new behavior.

Remember that dogs are pack animals and that you’re the top dog; don’t put your puppy out of sync with his place in the pack – like in your bed or standing over you. Although an older dog might adapt, your new puppy will be confused. Use his name without adding “pet” names. He needs to learn his name in order to respond properly; he’ll know how you feel about him by your tone of voice, not what you call him. Punishment is an extreme response. Use only gentle verbal expressions of disappointment at the moment of the incident to avoid confusion.

Concentrate on providing loving praise for jobs well done and your new family member will respond with enthusiasm and repeated success.

Barely Used Pets

My name is Bella and I am a 3-year-old black lab girl. I am all fixed up and current on my shots so I am ready, ready, ready for my new family. I am a very active girl. I play ball and swim and play with the kids. I am a little hard headed at first…can you believe somebody even called me bossy?! But that is only at first and if you tell me to behave then I am fine. So it’s not even a problem. Listen, I do have an ACL injury so I have a slight limp. Please don’t let that keep you from running and playing with me because I can keep up…I really can. I have so much potential and I am a young girl just looking for my new forever family. Please come out and see me and you’ll see…we could be perfect for each other! I just want to run and play and then curl up on a soft blanket at the end of the day with you. Let’s go spend some time on the playground so we can get to know each other! You bring the ball!

Please visit our website: www.barelyusedpets.com. Also, like us on Facebook at Barely Used Pets Rescue (put spaces between the words). Barely Used Pets is located at 844 Jackson Hill Road in Urbana, Ohio. You can give us a call at 937-869-8090. Our regular hours are: Open Sunday 1-4pm, Wednesday and Thursdays 11am-6pm, Fridays 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-2pm. We are CLOSED on Monday and Tuesday. We can always use donations and they are all of those basic supplies that we use so quickly. We are in real need of lots and lots of paper towels! If you can bring us some we would surely appreciate it. Miss Bella says…”Thanks so much for considering me and helping Barely Used Pets help all of us little ones find our forever homes! OK…so what are you waiting for? Let’s go home!”

The folks at PAWS Animal Shelter say 3-year-old Selina is great with kids and some dogs, but not so much with cats. She’s a sociable sort and needs a person or family all her own. Drop by the shelter and check her out.
