Setty wins Battelle Award for Teaching Excellence

ST. PARIS – Graham Middle School teacher Katie Setty was selected to receive Battelle for Kids 2017 Celebrate Teaching Distinguished Educator Award.

“We’re excited to recognize Katie Setty from Graham Middle School as a distinguished educator for her tremendous impact on her students, colleagues, and community,” a Battelle’s statement reads.

Setty will attend a celebration during the Educators Connect for Success Conference on June 8 in Columbus to receive her award. As part of the SOAR professional development program Graham is involved with, teachers like Setty have explored best practices through events with Battelle. Setty was also selected to take her students to show off their Farm to Table PBL projects at the OSBA Capital Conference held in November.

“This award represents an opportunity to honor a teacher for so much more than raising the academic standing of students. It’s a reminder that the people who are excellent teachers put more time into their own learning, exploring curriculum, taking advantage of leadership opportunities, and spending more time on students than others. Katie consistently demonstrates excellence in all these areas of our profession, and impacts the culture of her district in these ways,” Superintendent Kirk Koennecke said.
