Champaign County’s jobless rate decreased again in March, according to information released Tuesday by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

The county’s jobless rate was 4.0 percent in March, down from 4.6 percent in February.

In March the number of unemployed people decreased by 100 to 800 while the number of employed people increased by 300 to 19,100.

The county’s jobless rate in March 2016 was 4.5 percent with 19,200 employed people and 900 unemployed people.

Champaign County was one of 14 counties in the state with an unemployment rate of 4.0 percent or lower in March.

Logan County’s jobless rate was 4.2 percent in March.

Mercer County had the lowest jobless rate in the state at 3.0 percent while Monroe County had the highest at 9.6 percent.

Ohio’s unemployment rate was 5.1 percent in March, unchanged from February. Ohio’s nonagricultural wage and salary employment decreased 4,100 over the month, from a revised 5,522,800 in February to 5,518,700 in March.

The number of workers unemployed in Ohio in March was 294,000, unchanged from February. The number of unemployed has increased by 9,000 in the past 12 months from 285,000. The March unemployment rate for Ohio increased from 5.0 percent in March 2016.

The U.S. unemployment rate for March was 4.5 percent, 0.2 percentage points lower than in February, and 0.5 percentage points lower than in March 2016.
