A passenger involved in a two-vehicle crash earlier this week remained hospitalized Thursday.

Janice E. Kent, 73, of West Liberty, was listed in good condition at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, as of Thursday afternoon. She was one of three people involved in the crash Monday.

According to a Champaign County Sheriff’s Office court statement, deputies responded to the crash in the 1600 block of South U.S. Route 68 and found a vehicle off the road and another in the southbound lane of traffic. The front of both vehicles had major damage.

A crash report states a southbound vehicle driven by Dwight V. Saylor Jr., 36, of Urbana, went left of center and hit a northbound vehicle driven by Richard L. Kent, 76, of West Liberty.

Kent’s vehicle went off the roadway to the left, while Saylor’s vehicle stopped on the roadway.

The court statement states Saylor told deputies he was looking over at construction and when he looked back at the road vehicles in front of him had stopped. He stated he hit his brakes and his vehicle moved over the center line into the left lane.

All three people were checked by Urbana EMS personnel at the scene, with Saylor stating he was fine and not being transported to Mercy Memorial Hospital. The Kents were transported to Mercy Memorial Hospital and later were transported to Miami Valley Hospital.

Mr. Kent was not listed at Miami Valley Hospital as of Thursday afternoon.

Saylor was cited for driving left of center.
