Soroptimist of Urbana assists Project Woman and Baile Shelter

0

Through the month of April, Soroptimist of Urbana is holding a Diaper Drive benefiting Project Woman and The Baile Shelter, which is centrally located in Champaign County and provides survivors with a safe option for shelter and evidence-based domestic violence recovery services.

Diaper Drive boxes are placed throughout the county and Soroptimist of Urbana’s goal is to collect 500 cases of diapers, all of which will help local women and families. Collection sites include the Champaign County Library – Main Branch, Champaign Family YMCA, Urbana United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church of Urbana, Kingscreek United Methodist Church, IH Credit Union – Urbana Branch, One Eleven – A Fashion Boutique – Downtown Urbana, Thornton’s Flooring, Furniture & Sleep Shop – St. Paris, Henderson Land Investment Co – Urbana Branch.

Soroptimist International is a global volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.

Promoting the Diaper Drive are, from left, Paula Arter, Emily MacKendrick and Kay Schenkel.
