Businesses invited to wage.benefits meeting

The Champaign Economic Partnership is encouraging local businesses to reserve seats for a Jan. 19 informational meeting at Urbana University that will unveil the details of a first-of-its-kind five-county regional wage and benefits survey.

The survey, to be conducted in Champaign, Clark, Logan, Madison and Union counties, will help businesses see how their wages and benefits compare in the market – to help them stay competitive in recruiting and retaining employees.

The CEP initiated a partnership of the five counties to commission the survey, which will be led by Wendy C. Gradwohl, Ph.D., associate professor and chair of the Department of Business at Wittenberg University.

At the informational meeting – 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, in the Urbana University Student Center – Gradwohl will explain how the survey will be conducted and how businesses can benefit from the collected data. Survey results will be available by the third quarter of 2017.

Businesses can make reservations by contacting the CEP by Jan. 16 at 937-653-7200 or [email protected].

Marcia Bailey, CEP director, said, “Several businesses approached me about wanting the kind of information the wage and benefits survey will provide. They need this information so they can strengthen their workforce recruitment and retention.

“So, I reached out to the other counties, which also saw the value of this data,” she said. “We look forward to a large turnout of businesses on January 19.”

For more information, call the CEP at 937-653-7200.
