COLUMBUS – The Ohio Military Reserve, the 4th Civil Support and Sustainment Brigade of The Ohio Adjutant General’s Office, an all-volunteer, non-combat, emergency management trained military Unit, will be holding an open house in Central Ohio for interested civilians who seek to know more about Ohio’s State Defense Force as well as anyone between the ages of 17-62 who are interested in serving the people of Ohio.

The Open House will take place on Saturday, Jan. 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Haubrich Armory 4094 Sullivant Avenue Columbus, Ohio 43228. The Open House will include the chance to see Ohio Military Reserve’s typical training day in action, tour a working Armory, learn about the mission of “Ohio’s Own,” speak with soldiers as to how to enlist in Ohio Military Reserve. Refreshments will be provided.

“If you always wanted to serve, but did not know how, now is your chance to be part of something very special,” said Maj. Mark S. Williams, the Brigade’s Recruiting Management Officer. Williams went on to say, “I walked into an Armory and these many years later, am a better civilian with marketable skills in the private sector, all gained while serving the people of Ohio. It is my chance to not only read about Ohio history, but rather be a part of Ohio history.”

Ohio Military Reserve (OHMR) is a component of the Adjutant General’s Office of Ohio. Under the command of Governor John R. Kasich, OHMR is a highly trained unit specializing in support for the Ohio National Guard and civil authorities for emergency situations within the State of Ohio. Established as part of Ohio’s Constitution in 1803 and more recently, state law, OHMR is a fully constituted military organization.

The Open House will take place in a state armory, and as such, those wishing to attend must bring photographic identification. Ample parking exists on premises.
