Council approves raises for village employees

NORTH LEWISBURG – The village council approved raises for employees Dec. 20.

Following an executive session, council voted to increase salaries for Village Administrator Andy Yoder and Water/Wastewater Superintendent Trevor Clark.

Yoder received an annual 5.3 percent increase, while Clark received a 10 percent increase, with both raises retroactive to the last pay period of Dec. 16.

All six village employees received a 3 percent raise, effective Jan. 1, 2017. These raises will be in addition to Yoder and Clark’s increases.

The increases were unanimously approved 4-0. Council members Gwen Beech and Susan Woodard were not present during the meeting.

Earlier in the meeting, Yoder informed council that Bob Davis resigned from the maintenance department.

In other action:

•Council approved a resolution authorizing the village clerk to apply at Security National Bank for a village credit card for village operations with a limit of $2,000.

•Mayor Cheryl Hollingsworth thanked the Maple Grove Garden Club for decorating flower pots for Christmas. Council approved donating $100 to the garden club for their efforts.

•According to the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office monthly activity report for the month of November, the village had four traffic citations issued, nine incident reports taken, zero arrests were made, 12 follow-up investigations completed and one auto accident report was taken. Earlier in the meeting Yoder informed council he had been in contract negotiations for deputies patrolling the village.

•Yoder reminded village residents to move vehicles parked on the streets to help during snow removal.
