Christmas warms Mechanicsburg

MECHANICSBURG – Our Towne Mechanicsburg hosted Christmas in the Village on Saturday. Chilly temperatures assured the event had a wintry feel this year.

After horse-drawn carriage rides in the middle part of the day, the Christmas parade stepped off at 2 p.m. Santa’s arrival was the main attraction of the parade, and the jolly old elf visited with children after the parade.

An array of home-make decorated Christmas cookies and other baked goods were offered for sale at the United Methodist Church and an arts and craft fair was held at the Masonic Lodge and fire house.

The Mechanicsburg Fire Department collected toys for local families in the lobby of the Mechanicsburg municipal building.

Mechanicsburg Public Library hosted a Make and Take craft activity.

Musical performances spanned the day at the historic Second Baptist Church and local businesses offered open house hours, refreshments, special menu items for the day and promotional discounts on their most popular items.
