The Urbana FFA held its annual Greenhand Ceremony on Nov. 8. The purpose of this meeting is to honor the students who earned their degree. Twenty-one FFA members received this honor. Recipients were Hayden Adams, Darreyn Black, Kolin Bowdle, Mackenzie Carter, Lily Cooksey, Taylor Cordial, Madison Markley, Austin Moyer, Gaven Napper, Justin Preece, McKinley Preece, Rebecca Preston, Jessica Salyers, Brandon Segovia, Gavin Spence, Raven Spurlock, Peyton Tener, Conor Thomas, Gavon Williams, Noah Ziegler and Alanah Zirkle. In order to receive the Greenhand degree they have to be enrolled in an agriculture class, have learned and explained the FFA motto, creed and salute and know the history and guidelines and the official dress and have an SAE (supervised agricultural experience) plan.

There were special guests present such as members Ryan Matthews. Ryan is the Ohio FFA’s Vice President at Large , and while he was at the ceremony he gave a speech about how important it is to never let anything stop you from doing what you love and how FFA can open doors and provide avenues to attain goals. After the meeting members and guests were invited to go to the Cafeteria to refreshments and fellowship. This provided members/parents to meet the teachers and the officer team. A special thanks to all the parents and guests that joined us.
