No one filed at the Champaign County Board of Elections to be a write-in candidate in the March 15 primary election by Monday’s 4 p.m. deadline, which means county Commissioner David E. Faulkner is the only candidate for local office with opposition. Fellow Republican Doug Hoffman, an Urbana councilman, opposes Faulkner in the election.

Several incumbent Republicans face no opposition in local elections for county seats. State Rep. Nino Vitale (R-Urbana) also faces no opposition.
