WEST LIBERTY – West Liberty-Salem Local Schools’ board and administrators recognized the long board career of Jim Hoffman.

Hoffman has served on the board 20 years. He was president of the board in the past.

The recognition was held at the board’s Dec. 15 meeting, which was Hoffman’s last board meeting. Superintendent Kraig Hissong presented Hoffman with a clock for his service.

The school board also approved posting a full-time custodial position for the rest of the 2015-16 school year. The position replaces a part-time custodial position, vacated when the employee retired. The board and administration determined they needed a full-time custodian due to the increased duties from the new building construction.

In other action, the board:

•Approved the West Liberty-Salem chapter of Key Club International as a recognized student group. Key Club is affiliated with Kiwanis International and is led by high school counselor Molly Smith as voluntary advisor.

•Approved Assistant Varsity Wrestling Coach Cameron McKinley at Step 0 for the 2015-16 school year.

•Approved non-renewal of 2015-16 fall supplemental coaching positions.

•Accepted a $20 donation from Donay Life and Wellness Center Inc. for athletics, and a $498.90 check made out to Mrs. Hollar from Miami Valley Co-Op Inc. for the 2015 Mac Grant Award – Elementary PE Grant.
