The Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Services (MHDAS) Board of Logan and Champaign Counties operating levy passed in both counties Tuesday.

According to unofficial results the 0.7 mill, five-year replacement levy passed 9,731 votes to 7,343 votes in Champaign County and 12,484 votes to 8,035 votes in Logan County.

This year’s levy is expected to generate $1,353,000 annually combined from the two counties.

Prior to the election, Dr. David Higgins, executive director of MHDAS, said the goal of the levy is to allow the board to continue numerous services provided to both counties. Higgins said the levy accounts for 42 percent of the board’s funding.
