Grafton UMC to stage ‘Cinderella …’ at the Gloria

Grafton UMC will present “Cinderella or the Story of Bigfoot” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at the Gloria Theatre. This light-hearted comedy is family-oriented. Several years ago Grafton began to offer these plays at local venues including Mad River Township Building and Graham Middle School.

“Moving our annual fall production to the Gloria is a big step for Grafton,” said Linda Jenkins, production organizer. “Our church wanted to give the entire county an opportunity to be part of these performances. The Gloria and the Grandworks Foundation’s mission is to offer productions like this to the community. Over 350 people have attended the past several years.”

“This entire process came out of one of our mission board meetings several years ago,” said Chairperson Bob Heitman. “All proceeds from performances go to mission programs such as Operation Christmas Blessing in the country of Belize; crucial construction projects in Henderson, Tennessee, for churches and families; Caring Kitchen and Champaign County families in need.”

The local cast includes members of Grafton including Graham graduate Amy Atterholt in the lead role as Ella. “This humorous story about Cinderella stresses that people should learn to care about each other,” she said. “Respect and individual worth are two main values in the storyline.”
