Cedar Bog closes season with Owl Prowl Walk

Have you ever heard a Great Horned Owl, Barred Owl, or Screech Owl in the wild? Well those are just three of the species that are commonly heard at Cedar Bog Nature Preserve. Join Cedar Bog’s Volunteer Naturalist and retired Ohio History Connection Natural History Curator Bob Glotzhober as he provides our “Owl Prowl” talk about owls and then leads a tour on our boardwalk to attempt to call an owl in. The Owl Prowl will be Friday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m. at Cedar Bog’s Education Center.

The cost for the Owl Prowl is $10 per person or $5 for Ohio History Connection or Cedar Bog Association members and children.

A Certified Naturalist Class on Environmental Education will be offered on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 10 a.m. for those that attended previous Second Saturday Classes at Cedar Bog for Cedar Bog Naturalist Training. This is the last course for the Certified Naturalist Training and the cost is $10 per person or $5 for Ohio History Connection or Cedar Bog Association members.

Cedar Bog’s Education Center will close for the winter beginning Saturday, Nov. 19, and will reopen on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017. The Education Center’s hours are Wednesday – Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Cedar Bog boardwalk will be closed during Deer Gun Season on the following dates: Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 19-20; Monday through Sunday, Nov. 28 – Dec. 4; Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 17-18; and Saturday through Tuesday, Jan. 7-10. The boardwalk will be inaccessible during these Deer Gun Season dates.
