Crop reporting deadlines approaching

0

The Champaign County Farm Service Agency would like to remind producers of two upcoming crop certification deadlines before the end of the year. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has recently announced a change to the acreage reporting deadline for Ohio’s perennial forage crop, including both hay and pasture. The perennial forage crop must be reported by Nov. 15 for crop year 2017 and subsequent years, which is a major change from the previous July 15 deadline. In addition, fall seeded wheat should still be certified by Dec. 15.

In order to comply with FSA program eligibility requirements, all producers are encouraged to visit the Champaign County FSA office to file certify their hay and pasture by the Nov. 15 deadline, and to certify wheat no later than Dec. 15. For questions regarding crop certification, or to schedule an appointment contact the Champaign County Farm Service Agency office at 937-484-5527.
