The Urbana FFA Chapter held a cookout meeting and a first-year member greeting on Sept. 13 at the Urbana City Park. There were 53 members and guests present. The meeting began at 6:03 pm. With no old business we transitioned on to new business. The chapter moved to approve that we pay twenty dollars to each member that goes to Greenhand camp. With a unanimous vote members moved to approve the POA (program of activities). The chapter approved that we pay sixty five dollars to every student that goes to National Convention. After approving all new business our committees then gave committee reports. Once the meeting was adjourned members stayed and chatted with friends and our advisors while eating. It was a great opportunity for members and parents to meet one another and learn about the various events they can get involved in through the Ag program.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:45 PM.

On Oct. 4, District 6 held an officer training and a meeting for our FFA advisors at Elgin High School. We started off by eating dinner when we all showed up. Dinner was BBQ pulled pork, baked beans, a cookie, a bag of chips and a bottle of water which was graciously provided by D.B. Yummers Company, a vendor for our fall fundraiser. Once dinner was done our advisors left for their meeting. All members split into six groups, and played five different leadership games. After all games were done we met back in the cafetorium. We all went to our assigned office training rooms. Being the reporter we learned how to write our articles and how to improve our chapters scrapbook. Once we were all done we met back up with our chapters and had to write ten chapter goals we have and turn them into the main leader.
