MECHANICSBURG – The Mechanicsburg Police department recovered drugs and firearms during two drug related incidents this week.

Mechanicsburg Police Chief John Alexander said six to eight pounds of marijuana, a firearm and over $2,000 in cash were recovered during a traffic stop that took place after midnight Wednesday on North Main Street.

Alexander said two arrests were made on the traffic stop and the case will be presented to a grand jury in the future.

Around 10 a.m. on the same day, Mechanicsburg police conducted a drug raid at a Pleasantview Estates residence they had investigated for a couple of months. After executing a search warrant, Alexander said numerous drugs, seven firearms and a case of ammunition were recovered during the raid.

One arrest was made in the drug raid and Alexander said this case will also be presented to a grand jury in the future.

Both incidents are under investigation.

Alexander said Mechanicsburg Police have been involved in 15 drug cases this year. He encouraged residents to contact Mechanicsburg Police at (937) 834-2239 if they suspect drug activity is going on in the village. Residents can also leave tips on the department’s website at mechanicsburgpd.org.
