Ohio 85th District State Rep. Nino Vitale (R-Urbana) announced that he will run for a second term in 2016. Vitale filed his petitions with the Champaign County Board of Elections. The public announcement was made at a Logan County Town Hall Forum.

“I ran as a Christian Constitutional Conservative and believe I have upheld the values of limited and local government in my first term. I am trying to be the kind of elected official that does what he told the voters he would do,” he said. “Trust in government is at an all-time low and I think it’s important to say what you intend to do, and then do it.”

Lowering taxes, creating opportunity, protecting citizens’ freedom and protecting human life are of utmost importance, Vitale said. He added that faith and family are foundational for our culture and said he will continue to look for ways to strengthen what he calls the “cornerstone of our society.”

Vitale is a private business person with over 24 years of experience building companies and creating jobs. Vitale has worked for Apple Computer, Frigidaire Appliances, Wendy’s International and now works at his family’s manufacturing business in Urbana where they make heavy vehicle brake parts.

Vitale and his wife, Lilli Johnson Vitale, have been married 17 years and have five boys. Vitale has served on the Champaign County Right to Life board, is an National Rifle Association and Concealed Carry instructor, and has taken Constitution classes from Hillsdale College. He was a member of the Ohio State marching band and a Dean’s List MBA graduate. He and his family have also served as a licensed foster family.
