Schools, others hosting Veterans Day meals

Local veterans have a number of options for a “thank you” meal Nov. 11-12.

There will be a Veterans Day celebration for all veterans 8-10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Mercy McAuley Center, 906 Scioto St. U.S. Air Force Maj. Nate Williams will speak at 9:30 a.m., and American Legion Pearce-Kerns Post 120 will conduct a 21-gun salute at 10 a.m.

Also on Nov. 11, West Liberty-Salem, Mechanicsburg and Triad schools will host meals.

West Liberty-Salem invites veterans and active military personnel and spouses living in or who have graduated from the school district at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 11 to the high school cafetorium for breakfast. Attendees must RSVP at 937-465-1060 or 937-465-0060.

Mechanicsburg schools will host a luncheon for veterans Nov. 11; each building has a different time for lunch. RSVP information was sent home with students.

Triad High School invites area veterans to a pancake breakfast at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday Nov. 11, in the Triad High School auditeria. Each veteran and his/her guest will be presented with a complimentary breakfast. A program at 10 a.m. will celebrate and thank them for their service. All are welcome to join, and donations will be accepted from additional guests. The morning will be filled with music provided by the High School Band and Choir and the Elementary Music Department. Veteran Selinda Noland is the guest speaker. Reservations can be made by contacting Zack Moore at [email protected] or 937-303-2345.

Urbana City Schools will host veterans for lunch on Thursday, Nov. 12. Each school has a different lunch time, and RSVPs were sent home with students.
