Breast Friends Forever raise funds for camisoles

0

Breast Friends Forever of Champaign County donated a check of $427.50 to the Breast Cancer Endowment Fund, which will provide camisoles to Champaign County women after breast cancer surgery. The group’s January fundraiser Sip-n-dippity raised half of the funds and the group matched the money raised.

The group will host the 19th annual Fashion to a Tea on Oct. 13 to honor and remember all who have had breast cancer. The theme this year is “Breast Cancer: Through the Years.” Attendees will learn how breast cancer detection, prevention and treatment have changed through the years. A speaker from Springfield Imaging will discuss new ways to detect, as well as what is coming in the future.

Tickets cost $12 and will be on sale in September at Perpetual Savings Bank, the Champaign Family YMCA and Mercy Memorial Hospital in Urbana; Gentle Care Health Center in Mechanicsburg; First Central Saving Bank in St. Pairs; and online at https://fashiontoatea2016.eventbrite.com.

The Breast Friends mission statement is “To educate, empower, encourage, and embrace all who are at risk for breast cancer.”

Project participants were, from left, Brenda Hollar, Jody Lewis, Kristyn Campbell, Gretta Runyan, Christina Downey and Pillar Mock.
