PAWS Animal Shelter

Charcoal is an adorable mitten paw kitten looking for his forever home. Charcoal’s mother, Trish, was brought to Paws with her three kittens, Karma, Charcoal and Fudge. Trish and her kittens have extra toes on their paws. They look like they have large thumbs! They are mitten paw cats. Mitten cats are also called Polydactyl, Bigfoot or Hemingway cats (named after the author, Ernest Hemingway, who owned mitten pawed cats as pets). Mitten paw cats are unusual and considered to be lucky. Karma and Fudge have already been adopted. Charcoal and his mother are quiet kitties who are looking for good forever homes. Trish is a beautiful female tiger cat. Charcoal is a precious black kitten with a tiny bit of white under his chin. Both Charcoal and Trish are very shy and need someone who is willing to spend time with them. Trish and Charcoal are up to date on their shots. They are litter box trained. If you are interested in Charcoal or Trish be sure to get your application in as soon as you can. Charcoal will have neuter certificate when adopted and Trish has been spayed. Adopt both kitties for double the good luck and fun. They would be ideal companions and devoted pets.

Stop by Paws Animal Shelter, 1535 W. U.S. Route 36, Urbana, or call 937-653-6233. The Shelter hours are Tuesday-Friday 12-5 p.m., Saturday 12-4 p.m., Sunday and Monday-closed. You can email us at [email protected]. Visit us at www.facebook.com/paws.urbana. There are many wonderful cats, adorable kittens and fun-loving dogs at the shelter waiting for good homes. Paws Animal Shelter needs donations of Purina Kitten Chow, Purina Complete Cat Chow, Purina Dog Chow and Purina Puppy Chow. We also could use donations of bleach, laundry detergent, 39 gallon trash bags and clumping cat litter. We are a nonprofit organization that operates only by donations. We do not receive any city, county or state funding. We depend on public donations and our adoption fees to run the shelter. Please consider making a donation to help fund our shelter. This is puppy and kitten season. We often get in puppies or kittens with no mother. Consider fostering puppies or kittens. Sign up on our foster list. We are always looking for volunteers to come to the shelter and help out. You could play with the cats or dogs to help socialize them.

Champaign County Animal Welfare League

Please meet Dixie, a sweet lemon and white Bassett Hound. She is 2 years old and is a little underweight at 39 pounds, but we are working to put a few more pounds on her. Dixie is a sweet, playful girl who loves people including children and gets along with other dogs. She was relinquished to Champaign County Animal Welfare League because her owners were moving and could not take Dixie with them. The previous owners say that Dixie is housebroken and everything we’ve experienced indicates this is true. Dixie would be a fun and loving addition to any family.

As with all Champaign County Animal Welfare League (CCAWL) pets, Dixie is completely vetted before adoption. Included in the $130 adoption donation is spaying/neutering, vaccinations including rabies, worming, heart-worm testing and treated with flea and heart-worm prevention. CCAWL adopted dogs are all micro-chipped and have their 2016 dog license and dental cleaning. If you are interested in visiting Dixie or any other of the adoptable pets at CCAWL, please call us at 937-834-5236. We are located at 3858 SR 56, Mechanicsburg, OH, 43044. Dog and Cat adoption applications can be found online at www.champaigncoanimalwelfareleague.com. You may fax an adoption application to 937-834-5171. A complete listing of our available pets may be found at www.petfinder.com and www.adoptapet.com.

Plan now to attend WAG, the most fun dog day ever, next Saturday, Aug.20, 10 a.m. to 5 pm. Champaign County Animal Welfare League will be there and we hope you stop by our tent. The event is at the Prairie Oaks Metro Park (Darby Bend Lake area) in Hilliard, Ohio. This is a fun day for both dogs and people. You and your furry friend can walk trails and splash in a lake or just browse the fun booths. The area’s best dog-related product and service providers will be there to display their wares and help with your dog-related questions. This event is free, fun and family friendly.

Also, on Aug. 20, CCAWL will be at the Mechanicsburg Dog Wash Event at Champion Feed and Pet Supply, 140 S. Main St., from 10 a.m. to noon. Members of the Mechanicsburg FFA will wash your dog for just a donation. For $5.00, Dr. Sharon Heisler will give your dog a heart-worm test with the purchase of heart-worm prevention. The heartworm test, without a purchase, will be $10.00. This event also sponsors CLIP OUT CANCER benefiting the Ripley family. For a $10.00 donation, you can have your dog’s toenails trimmed. We are looking forward to seeing you at these events.

Barely Used Pets

Hi! My name Flash and I was found as a stray. I’m not sure at all what that means, but I know I was scared out there and so glad a nice man saw me and helped me get to Barely Used Pets. I don’t ever want to be alone out there again. I am a Collie mix and 11 months old. I weigh 34 pounds. I love people and I love to play. They just got me all “fixed” up…don’t know what that means either, but they say that us boys recover real fast and really…I don’t feel any different. I am ready for my new forever family…but you have to promise to keep me safe and give me lots of loving. I didn’t get any of that out on the street. If you make me part of your family, I will love you forever and ever and ever.

Please visit our website: www.barelyusedpets.com. Also, like us on Facebook at Barely Used Pets Rescue (put spaces between the words). Barely Used Pets is at our new location of 844 Jackson Hill Road in Urbana, Ohio. You can give us a call at 937-869-8090. We are open Sunday 1-4pm, Wednesdays and Thursdays 10am-6pm, and Fridays 10am – 5pm. We can always use donations and they are all of those basic supplies that we use so quickly. We need Lysol Lemon spray cleaner, paper towels, Clorox, Dawn dish soap (original), and laundry soap. We can also use the elevated pet beds by Kuranda (go to kuranda.com). Any donations are always appreciated. Please take a look at our website for other ideas for donations.

Thanks so much for considering me and helping Barely Used Pets help me and my friends find our forever homes.
