A resolution recommending the Community Action Organization of Delaware, Madison and Union Counties (CAODMU) continue offering its services to Champaign County will be put to a vote by City Council during its 7 p.m. meeting today in municipal court chambers.

The resolution, which will undergo a first reading (includes a request to suspend the three-readings rule), comes on the heels of CAODMU Executive Director Rochelle Twining’s request for council’s support for the work her agency has done since taking over for Tri-County Community Action, which ceased operations in April 2014.

If the measure is approved, CAODMU would receive council’s recommendation to be designated the county’s Community Action Agency, as well as its recommendation to be the recipient of the county’s Community Services Block Grant funding used to serve low income residents.

Also during the meeting, administration will recommend council authorize a purchase order in the amount of $19,002 for the replacement of a roof top air conditioning unit at the municipal building.

In other business, council will hear second readings of the following resolutions/ordinances:

•A resolution authorizing the city and Ohio Department of Transportation to enter into an agreement for the pavement planing and resurfacing of state Route 54 from the city’s south corporation limit at Powell Avenue to U.S. Highway 36 (Scioto Street).

•An ordinance to amend chapter 141 of the city’s codified ordinance concerning ambulance service rates and charges.

•An ordinance adopting the city’s tax budget for the fiscal year beginning Jan. 1, 2016.

A public hearing on the proposed tax budget will take place today prior to the council meeting at 6:45 p.m. in municipal court chambers.
