Sunday crash causes injuries

Champaign County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday afternoon.

Deputies and West Liberty Fire and EMS responded to the crash at state Route 296 and Upper Valley Pike just north of Urbana.

Investigators have determined a male juvenile was driving westbound on 296 when his vehicle went off the roadway to the right striking an embankment. The driver and two occupants were ejected from the vehicle, causing the driver and a female passenger to be transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. They were listed in serious and critical conditions on Sunday evening. A male passenger was transported to Mercy Memorial Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

No names of the injured have been released by the sheriff’s office and the crash remains under investigation.
