Brent C. Ream, 31, of 716 W. Second St., Springfield, is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment hearing related to a crash Monday, according to the Champaign County Municipal Court’s website.

Urbana Police Chief Matt Lingrell said that at 1:05 p.m. Monday a report of a reckless motorist was called in to the Urbana Police Division. The caller said a white Cadillac was entering the city from South U.S. 68 and had reportedly gone left of center several times, forcing oncoming traffic to leave the roadway.

Officer Mike Cooper located and attempted to stop the vehicle near the intersection of Main and Water streets, but the driver turned eastbound onto Scioto Street before finally stopping in the 300 block.

The driver was identified as Ream and was suspected by officers of driving under the influence. He agreed to submit to intoxication tests and admitted to using multiple prescription narcotics.

While officers were conducting field sobriety tests at the scene, they learned the vehicle Ream was driving had crashed into a 2004 Mustang parked in the 300 block of South Main Street. Ream told officers he remembered striking something, but decided to keep driving.

Ream is charged with hit/skip for leaving the scene of the South Main Street crash, failure to control, failure to maintain marked lanes and failure to wear a safety belt. Lingrell said other charges are pending lab results.
