Newman’s ‘Hammered Lace’ earns show award

Kimberly Newman, owner of Kim’s Creative Designs, 1463 S. U.S. Route 68, Urbana, placed 2nd on June 10 in the wirework category of the international Bead Dreams design competition in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This largest consumer bead show and competition is sponsored by Bead & Button magazine. Newman’s work was titled Hammered Lace. “I have been making and selling jewelry for almost 20 years as a way to earn extra income,” she said, adding she opened her Urbana shop in 2007. “People can come in and buy supplies to make their own jewelry. I love being able to teach my customers and especially seeing the enjoyment they get from mastering new jewelry-making skills.” The shop and Newman can be reached at 937-244-4964 and www.kimscreativedesigns.com.
