On June 27, the Madison-Champaign Educational Service Center’s (ESC) board approved a new contract for its superintendent and salary increases for him and the treasurer.

The superintendent’s two-year contract begins Aug. 1, 2016, and is for 180 days. This is an increase over the prior 156-day contract, Treasurer Matthew Ketcham said. Superintendent Dr. Dan Kaffenbarger’s salary will increase from $80,000 to $94,000 for the first year of the contract, a 1.83 percent per diem increase, Ketcham said.

The board also approved a 2 percent pay increase for Ketcham for the 2016-17 school year. His salary for the 260-day contract increases from $92,000 to $93,840, Ketcham said.

The ESC is continuing to move its offices to the former Lawnview School on South U.S. Route 68, Kaffenbarger reported to the board. All the offices have physically moved, along with the preschool and transition staff.

The ESC will begin an online program offering member districts courses for credit recovery, curricular enhancement, blended learning and an online learning option, Kaffenbarger reported. This is through a partnership with FuelEd, East Central Ohio ESC and the Madison-Champaign ESC.

The next ESC board meeting will be at 6 p.m. July 25 at London Elementary School in London.
