A bicyclist was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign following a bicycle versus car injury crash last week.
On Sept. 18, the Urbana Police and Fire divisions responded to the crash at the intersection of East Church and North Locust streets.
An investigation showed that a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt operated by Logan Bruce, 18, of Urbana, was eastbound on Church Street with the right-of-way as it approached the intersection of Locust Street.
A 16-year-old bicyclist entered the intersection without stopping for a stop sign. He went into the path of the Cobalt.
The collision resulted in the bicyclist going airborne and landing on pavement 47 feet east of the point of impact. The bicycle became stuck under the vehicle and was dragged 129.6 feet.
The bicyclist was transported by Urbana medics to Mercy Memorial Hospital where he was treated for apparent minor injuries and released.
