On Sept. 12, Sgt. Jason Byers of the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, finished third of 177 runners in a 5-K run at Buck Creek State Park, benefiting the Rocking Horse Community Health Center, Springfield. Deputy Josh Welty was 8th, Deputy Zac Prickett was 11th, Deputy Melany Ward was 12th and Deputy Justin Allender was 15th. Winning medals in their age groups were Byers, first place; Welty, second place; Prickett, third place; and Ward, third place.
