The United Way of Clark, Champaign and Madison Counties will offer board training for nonprofit board members June 23.

The session is being offered as part of a partnership between the United Way of Clark, Champaign and Madison Counties, the United Way of Logan County, Green Hills Community and Holbrook & Manter CPAs.

The training, “Best Practices for Nonprofit Organizations: Board Member 101,” will focus on best practices for nonprofit organizations. Speaker Dr. Phil Atkins will cover several topics, including analyzing a board’s constitution or bylaws and creating a plan to ensure they are updated, reviewing best practice board recruitment, learning the four duties of nonprofit boards and how to apply them, and understanding transparency and its relationship to working with funders to build credibility.

The session will be held Thursday, June 23, on the Green Hills Community campus, 6557 S. U.S. Route 68, West Liberty. The training begins with breakfast and networking 8-8:30 a.m. and will end at 10 a.m. There is no cost for the session, though reservations are requested.
