A fire demolished a small barn behind a residence Friday.

Johnson-St. Paris firefighters responded to 3857 Stickley Road around 12:36 p.m. on a report of a possible structure fire.

JSP Capt. Jevon Monaghan said Champaign County sheriff units in the area determined an open burn spread into a small barn. Monaghan said the structure was destroyed by the time deputies responded. JSP put out hot spots when they responded to the scene.

No injuries were reported. The property is owned by Patricia Stickley, according to the Champaign County auditor’s website.

While the barn was ruled as a total loss, no damage estimate was available Friday afternoon.

A tanker from the Urbana Fire Division was dispatched to the scene before it was released upon arrival.

The fire remains under investigation.
