The Mechanicsburg FFA attended Ohio’s 88th annual state convention on May 5 and 6. Thirty-eight FFA members attended the convention. Mechanicsburg’s FFA chapter was recognized multiple times on stage for donations to Children’s Hospital, Crop/World Hunger, FFA Chapter Trust Fund, and Ohio FFA Fights Hunger.
Ten Mechanicsburg students helped pack 95,000 meals for homeless shelters in Ohio alongside other Ohio chapters.
Ashley Dailey was awarded a gold rating for her secretary’s book and Kylie Owen received a gold rating on her reporter’s book.
Four students placed in the state agriscience fair. Taylor Ayars placed 2nd in food processing, the team of Elly Schipfer and Rilee Smith were awarded 2nd place in food processing, and Houston Fraley earned 3rd place in food processing.
Emily Wilson and Miranda Lauchard were awarded their State Degree on May 6.
Mechanicsburg was represented by Alex Millet in the Ohio FFA band and by Harley Ferguson and Emily Wilson in the Ohio FFA Choir.
FFA banquet
On May 7th the Mechanicsburg FFA held their annual banquet. Many family members, local farmers, and FFA members from other schools joined the banquet. Members were recognized for their ample amount of participation throughout the year. Career development participants were recognized for their participation and the Dairy, Meats, and General Livestock judging teams were recognized for placing in the top ten of the state. The Dairy team of Kadey Starkey, Heath Starkey, Wyatt Snyder and Gus Howeisher placed 5th in the state, the Meats team of Taylor Ayars, Dylan Hartley, and McKenna Hiltibran were awarded 7th and the General Livestock team of Jake McDonald, Miranda Lauchard, Caleb Martin, and Jaycie Patterson finished 3rd in the state contest.
Emily Wilson and Miranda Lauchard were again recognized for receiving their State Degree.
At the conclusion of the banquet the new chapter officers were installed. The offices are as followed; President, Kylie Owen, Vice President, John Kent, Secretary, Taylor Ayars, Treasurer, Heath Starkey, Reporter, Miranda Lauchard, Sentinel, Wyatt Snyder, Student Advisor, Jayci Patterson, Historian, Gabby Terry, and Caplin, Levi Adams.
