Jake is an active, older Pug/Beagle whose owner passed away, leaving Jake sad and depressed. Jake has been with us for several months and has adjusted just fine. He is still very playful and loves toys, but does not share his toys with other dogs. Jake is house-trained, enjoys walking on a leash and is greedy for attention. He would not do well with small children, but is social enough with cats and some dogs. Jake would enjoy being the only pet in a household and he qualifies for our Seniors 4 Seniors program, which allows placement of an older dog with a senior citizen for a waived or reduced fee. As with all Champaign County Animal Welfare League (CCAWL) pets, Jake has been completely vetted. Included in the $130 adoption donation is spaying/neutering, vaccinations including rabies, worming, heart-worm testing and treated with flea and heart-worm prevention. CCAWL adopted dogs are all micro-chipped and have their 2016 dog license and dental cleaning. If interested in visiting Jake or any other of the adoptable pets at CCAWL, please call us at 937-834-5236. We are located at 3858 SR 56, Mechanicsburg, OH, 43044. Our hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. We are closed Tuesday and Sunday. If later hours are needed, appointments are available. Dog and Cat adoption applications can be found online at www.champaigncoanimalwelfareleague.com. You may fax an adoption application to 937-834-5171. A complete listing of our available pets may be found at www.petfinder.com and www.adoptapet.com. CCAWL has memberships available that will allow a member access to the many wooded trails, agility course and ponds on the 72 acres. CCAWL will also have a dog park, cemetery to spread ashes of deceased pets, several picnic areas and a track for those who do not or cannot walk the trails. Members also receive a 10 percent discount on all sterilizations as well as training classes offered. Thanks to an unusually warm winter, flea and tick season is especially bothersome this spring. Be sure to protect both you and your pet when enjoying the outdoors. CCAWL is accepting applications for motivated volunteers who would enjoy a variety of responsibilities at our rescue. If interested, please come out in person during our business hours and fill out an application. Volunteers are required to attend a short training session and safety class and must be at least 16 years old. Any person who will be volunteering must also have a current Tetanus Vaccination.
