The Madison-Champaign Educational Service Center board approved a bid to improve technology wiring at a special Wednesday board meeting.

The board also authorized the ESC treasurer to seek bids for renovating the gym into a conference room.

The board selected Mobile Technology Services, Mechanicsburg, to do the wiring at the former Lawnview School building at 2200 S. U.S. Route 68 in Urbana, Superintendent Dr. Dan Kaffenbarger said. The ESC is renovating the facility for its offices and operations. Mobile Technology Services had the low bid of $42,291 for the work.

The ESC’s renovations are estimated to cost $374,000, and it is financing $250,000 of that. The ESC hopes to finish work in mid-May and move its offices and the ESC preschool to the new facility in the summer.
