WEST LIBERTY – Three West Liberty-Salem Local Schools administrators received contract extensions at the school board’s March 15 meeting.

Superintendent Kraig Hissong and elementary principal Aaron Hollar received four-year contract extensions to July 31, 2020. Assistant principal Andrew McGill received a three-year contract extension to July 31, 2019. The extensions do not include salary increases, Treasurer Steve Godwin said.

The school board also approved a resolution authorizing the superintendent and treasurer to approve change orders up to $50,000, on behalf of the board, for the building project. Those change orders are developed in consultation with architects and engineers on the project. Hissong said most of the change orders have been in the $1,000 to $5,000 range, but some items can cost a bit more, and sometimes they have to be approved between board meetings. Change orders can be about unforeseen conditions on the building project, or errors or omissions regarding the project.

In other action, the board:

•Approved the resignation for retirement of custodian Toni Cox, effective June 30, 2016.

•Approved the resignation for retirement of custodian Rita Miller, effective April 29, 2016.

•Approved the resignation for retirement of bus driver Pam Hopkins, effective May 31, 2016.

•Approved hiring MS Football 7th Grade Head Coach Cameron McKinley and Assistant Middle School Football Coach Austin Dillon, both at Step 0, for the 2016-17 school year.

•Approved volunteer coaches Stephanie Spencer for Girls Softball and Jamie Whitman for Boys Baseball, for the 2015-16 spring sports season.

•Approved Wallace Custom Lawn Service for mowing of fields and school property for the 2016 season (March 15-Nov. 30, 2016), for $18,000. If fuel costs increase to more than $3.50 per gallon, there will be a $100 fuel surcharge per month.

•Approved donations of $150 from an anonymous donor for athletics; $50 from Juvenile Diabetes for the elementary school; and $500 from Chris Moell for baseball.
