The Champaign Health District will hold an H1N1 flu clinic on Monday, Nov. 30 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Champaign County Community Center. The amount of vaccine available for this clinic is approximately 2,800 doses. The vaccine will be available primarily in the shot form, with only a few nasal mists in the local supply.
All people who are eligible will be able to receive the shot form of vaccination during this clinic. There is no charge for the vaccination, but participants must be in one of the following priority groups to receive the vaccine:
Pregnant women
Healthcare and EMS personnel
Healthy individuals between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old
Household caregivers of children under 6 months old
Those 25-64 years old with chronic medical conditions
Children under 10 years old who have received their initial vaccination should wait at least 28 days before receiving a second vaccination. A second dose is needed for these children to give full protection against H1N1. Children who received their initial vaccination on or before Nov. 2 will be eligible for their second dose.
An additional clinic is scheduled for Dec. 6 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Champaign County Community Center. Clinic dates and times are subject to change depending on vaccine supply.
