Urbana native actor Clancy Brown has become one of the most sought after voice-over artists in Hollywood.
He can currently be heard in TV commercials for Home Depot and Avis, and he also voices several animated characters in cartoons.
Among the cartoons he can be heard in are SpongeBob Squarepants (Mr. Krabs), Batman (Mr. Freeze), Superman (Lex Luthor) and The Spectacular Spider-Man (as both the good and bad guy).
Brown also has two live-action movies in the can waiting to be scheduled for release: "The Burrowers" and "The Express."
According to the Web site www.clancybrown.com: "The Burrowers tells the story of a band of courageous men who set out to find and recover a family of settlers that has mysteriously vanished from their home. Expecting the offenders to be a band of fierce natives, the group prepares for a routine battle. But they soon discover that the real enemy stalks them from below."
"The Express" is based on the true story of former Syracuse University running back Ernie Davis, the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy.
Davis' NFL career with the Cleveland Browns ended before it started when he died of leukemia.
In "The Express," Brown plays former Syracuse assistant football coach Roy Simmons Sr. Dennis Quaid plays Syracuse head coach Ben Schwartzwalder and Rob Brown plays Davis.
"I think 'The Express' turned out really well," said Brown. "The studio is very excited about it and wants to give it a good release date."
Brown, like all other actors in Hollywood, had a slow winter work-wise due to the protracted writers' strike.
"It was an unexpected vacation," he said.
