Library celebrates Poetry Month

MECHANICSBURG – The Mechanicsburg Public Library will present Robert Burns and More Tuesday, April 25 at 7 p.m. The annual program includes Burns poetry recited in the Scottish dialect by Dean Shipley, vocal performances by Bonnie Ayars accompanied by Clyde McDaniel, with David Yarnall playing the Bagpipes.


In addition to the traditional celebration of the life and works of Burns, Shipley will include a salute to baseball, the great American pastime, with his performance of E. L. Thayer's Casey at the Bat and honor Dayton, Ohio's great poet, Paul Laurence Dunbar.

Traditional Scottish cuisine including haggis and scones will be served following the program.

This event is free and open to the public. Reservations are recommended to assure seating.
