Bridge replacements and repairs underway for county engineer's office
The County Engineer's Department has finished the resurfacing of county and township roads, and it has completed its 2010 pavement crack-sealing program as well as its replacement of the Cow Path Road bridge - marking the beginning of the end of its summer workload.

But the summer is not quite over, as at least six major projects lie ahead.

When they are finally accomplished, County Engineer Fereidoun Shokouhi said his staff will, as always, change with the season.

"There's always work for us to do," he said, adding that the department will stay busy with mowing and various maintenance tasks.

Tribe: Buckeye Wind farm no threat to Piqua Shawnee burial mound
CINCINNATI (AP) - An American Indian tribe now believes construction of a commercial wind farm in western Ohio will not threaten an ancient burial mound, a tribe elder said Tuesday.

The Alabama-based Piqua Shawnee tribe said last year that it feared construction of the Buckeye Wind Farm near Urbana would destroy the tree-covered mound. While there is no marker designating the mound as an Indian burial site, the tribe has said it is convinced the mound was built by ancestors of the Shawnee and used for burial.

Report: Reggie Bush to be stripped of Heisman
NEW YORK (AP) -- Yahoo! Sports reported Tuesday that 2005 Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush is expected to be stripped of the award by the end of the month.

The former Southern Cal running back would become the first player in the 75-year history of the award to have the Heisman Trophy taken away. The report also said the award would be left vacant for '05.

The NCAA found major violations in USC's football program and levied serious sanctions against the school in June.

US Ryder Cup picks: Woods, Johnson, Cink, Fowler
NEW YORK (AP) -- Tiger Woods was a no-brainer as a captain's pick for the Ryder Cup.

Rickie Fowler?

That required a little more than deep thought.

"It just came down to feelings," captain Corey Pavin said. "I had a gut feeling about Rickie."

Fowler, the 21-year-old mop top who only turned pro 11 months ago, made history Tuesday as the first PGA Tour rookie on the American team and the first captain's pick to have never won on tour.
