James Erwin and Virginia Slone will celebrate 69 years of marriage on Sept. 29. They were married on that date in 1951 by The Rev. Stanley.
They have four children, Cynthia Sue (deceased 1958), Linda (John) Garvey of Urbana, Vicky (Melvin) Shaffer of Urbana and Ricky Slone of Urbana. They have five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The Slones are retired from Pinkerton Security.
